What becomes a gossip columnist most?
By Michael Musto
When I called my old friend Simon Pegg* and told him I'd be writing a short piece about Hot Fuzz, the greatest action film of all time, he didn't believe me. After all, the British writer and star of Hot Fuzz asked, didn't everyone already know that Hot Fuzz is a riotous send-up of past action flicks as well as a heartwarming story about brotherhood with a scene where an old lady gets hit in the face? Sure, I said, except for those people in Africa without televisions or food. Besides, if you don't have television or food you've no need to be worrying about Hot Fuzz. In fact, I told Simon, it's probably best they don't know about Hot Fuzz, because nobody wants to be hungry and uninformed. [*Simon Pegg and I are actually not friends, and he would never say mean things about people in Africa, whether they liked his hit films and television programs (Shaun of the Dead, Spaced) or not.] Anglophiles and action fans alike shall gather at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane, this Friday and Saturday at midnight for screenings of Hot Fuzz. Tickets are $9.25or $6.25 for seniors, and I do suggest you bring grandma.
