The Comedy of Intelligence

You never forget your first time watching Eddie Izzard do stand-up. I remember watching the DVD of Dress to Kill years ago and wondering, what is the deal with this guy? He's just confusing on so many levels. He talks with a British accent, dresses like a woman and defines himself as an "executive transvestite." Of course, none of that matters when it comes down to it. The only question you need to ask about a guy like Eddie Izzard is, is he funny? And if you want the answer to that question to be yes, just stick with his stand-up and forgo watching his FX series The Riches. (Sorry, Minnie Driver, but your Southern accent sucks.) Now Eddie's bringing his latest tour, Stripped, to The Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm St., and you can see him live at 8 p.m. Thursday.
