Gilmore signs books, but not Blizzards

Libby Mae Brown said it best in Waiting for Guffman when she said, "I'll always have a place at the DQ," and Catherine Grace Cline would have to agree. As the voice of Susan Gregg Gilmore's coming-of-age story Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen, Catherine Grace's dream of moving to the big city mirrors that of every small-town girl, and through a series of events she makes her escape, only to be led back to DQ country. In all honesty, though, it's not really a bad place to be -- home is where the Dilly Bar is, after all. In conjunction with the book, Gilmore is having a "win a Blizzard a day for a year" contest over at susangregggilmore.com. Just send in your favorite Dairy Queen memories and keep your fingers crossed...and get a chance to butter her up when she discusses and signs her debut novel Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen 7 p.m. Thursday at Borders, 10720 Preston Road.
