Fashion at the Park has drool-worthy designers

At the end of the summer, sports lovers nationwide gear up for fantasy football. Fans carefully draft their own teams, banking on a core of experienced players and hand-picking a few promising rookies, hoping their selections will deliver a winning season. Meanwhile, clotheshorses are playing fantasy fashion, perusing the runways at worldwide fashion weeks, banking on time-tested wardrobe staples and drafting in pieces by new, hot designers. While it's easy for cash-strapped fashionistas to dream of break-the-bank stilettos and couture gowns while watching runway shows online, it's more fun to score a 50-yard-line view of what's hot for autumn and spring at NorthPark Center's Fall 2008 Fashion at the Park. For just $5 to $25 per show, you can check out collections from Roberto Cavalli, Marchesa, Thakoon, Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Rodarte (one of our favorites), Dillard's, Macy's and many more. Some of the designers will make personal appearances (including Cavalli, Thakoon Panichgul, and Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte) and mingle with attendees at after-show cocktail parties. Live the fantasy Friday through October 16 at NorthPark Center, 8687 N. Central Expressway. To purchase tickets, call 888-695-0888 (fees apply) or visit northparkcenter.com.
